Bevis [sic] locked the door. He took off his clothes, and pushed Butthead on the bed.

‘Bevis, what the fuck are you doing?’ He screamed. Bevis unbuckled Butthead’s pants, and lowered it. ‘Well, Bungholio! Ever though of doing it with a dude?’

“Entertainment Weekly: Have you read Bram Stoker’s Dracula?
Stephenie Meyer: No, but it’s on the list.”

Stephenie Meyer’s ‘Twilight’ Zone | Entertainment Weekly

That sure explains a lot. She also avoids R-rated movies like The Lost Boys and Interview with the Vampire because she finds them “yucky.”

“What happened? Activision Blizzard spent a mint promoting the game, including hiring big-name producers and DJs to hype the release, as well as bringing in Jay-Z and Eminem to perform at a star-studded concert at E3. The game had strong early buzz, and it could still be a slow-burning hit. Our guess, though, is that you’re looking at an expensive flop of game. Why did a title with so much going for it miss the mark in sales so spectacularly?” —

Innovating Problems: Why DJ Hero Flopped | Ars Technica

Simply put, the appeal of a DJ simulation game isn’t as massive as its guitar/drums counterparts. Ever wonder why aren’t there keyboards in these rock band games? Right.

I’ll go one step further and say that marketers and advertising agencies often overestimate the appeal of DJ culture as a source of cool among young people.

“Nevertheless, we hope that from now on in Borinquen [Puerto Rico], all those wild and bold boxing pseudo-experts leave aside their rancid patriotism and understand that boxing isn’t easy, and that not even [Wilfredo] Gómez or Tito [Trinidad] were invincible.” —

Chú García, on Manny Pacquiao’s victory over Miguel Cotto Saturday night

Amen. I also hope Cotto’s loss will help curb many Puerto Ricans’ weird and puzzling insistence on hanging their hopes and dreams on the international achievements of local pop idols and boxers, only to feel crushed later when they don’t live up to expectations.

“Most theologians agreed that demons acted first as succubae to collect sperm from men and then as incubi to put it into a woman’s vagina. But as many of them agreed also in the fact that demons’ bodies were icy, they reached the conclusion that the frozen sperm taken first from a man could not have generative qualities.” —

Medieval theology is so WTF, so weirdly fascinating. Also, check out the full article dedicated to Sexuality in Christian Demonology.

In this canon, the real subject is not human sexuality but humanity itself. The products that Jim [porn director Jim Powers] produces are videotaped vivisections, studies in which homo sapiens lie upon the operating table, the director is the doctor, the camera is the scalpel, and the only question worth asking is, How far will we go if we are pushed to our limits?

A long time ago, I asked Jim why he makes the movies that he does. He told me that when he was a teenager he had wanted to see what happened to the girl in the horror movies when the camera cut away from the action. What he had wanted was more. Hardcore, at least for a while, took him there.

“They Shoot Porn Stars Don’t They?” An essay by Susannah Breslin on the porn biz of today

The horror-porn comparison is apt. Just like suspense in horror gave way to the torture porn freak show, porn itself has become this wierdly unerotic, almost clinical thing.

“Puerto Rico is getting ready for the national strike on Thursday, October 15. Since governor Luis Fortuño layed-off about 17,000 government employees the first week of October, there has been tremendous mobilization from different sectors of the civil society: workers and members of trade unions, women, environmentalists, students, and professors, among others. […] In total this year, the recently elected government has laid off around 25,000 public employees.” —
