This is stage 1 of my wife’s new tattoo. It is the work-in-progress of Juan Salgado, tattoo artist extraordinaire. Thanks to the kind Mr. PortoRock for the recommendation.
The girl represents Odysseus’ wife Penelope. The idea for it came from one of Mariela’s favorite rock songs, Penélope (listen to it), which is a modern retelling of the Greek myth written by Puerto Rican musician Draco Rosa. The two intertwined trees in the background are from one of the lines in the song: “the trees embrace like forests of skeletons in the rain.”
Stage 2 will consist of adding shading to the trees, then color. This will happen in December.
